Call for Grant Applications
Rotary Club of Sarnia – Action Grants
The Rotary Club of Sarnia invites applications to the Rotary Club of Sarnia Action Grants program.
These grants support community groups working to positively impact Sarnia-Lambton.
We fund a wide range of initiatives, from smaller requests (as low as $100) to larger projects ($30,000+).
Projects that align with Rotary’s focus areas are especially encouraged, including:
maternal and child health; community economic development; peacebuilding and conflict prevention;
disease prevention; basic education and literacy; environmental sustainability; and water and sanitation.

Application Requirements

Please ensure your application includes:
  1. Primary contact name, phone number, and email.
  2. Description of the project/program, including goals, who will benefit, and how impact will be achieved.
  3. Budget details and expected timeframe (estimated project/program cost, annual program budget or business plan).
  4. Amount requested from the Rotary Club of Sarnia.
  5. Other funding sources, including amounts requested/secured from government, community partners, foundations, and/or private donors.
Note: If funding is approved by Rotary and you later secure additional designated funding for the
same project, please notify us before spending Rotary funds so we can confirm
continued alignment of use.
  1. Donor recognition plan outlining how Rotary’s contribution will be acknowledged.
We encourage applicants to be clear, specific, and detailed. Project/ program proposals that demonstrate
financial need, clearly state community impact, and align with Rotary’s mission are given stronger consideration..
Supporting documents may be included (preferably combined in a single PDF).

Application Priorities

While all complete applications will be considered, priority is given to:
  1. New applicants and new proposals over previously funded ones.
  2. Project/program expenses and capital costs over staffing costs.
  3. Organizations that are CRA-qualified donees, or those partnering with one.
  4. Community organizations or groups over individuals.
Only the first application submitted by an organization will be considered per cycle.

Submission and Timeline

Action Grant applications are accepted twice per year. Organizations can apply at any time but application
reviews will only occur after a deadline passes. Therefore, please note the deadline dates.

Submission deadlines: January 15 and August 15, by 11:59 PM.

Email completed applications to: serviceaboveself@rotarysarnia.com
Applicants will receive notification of results within two months of the deadline. Funding for approved
applications will be released in the month following approval.

Reporting Requirement

Recipients must submit a project summary report within 6 months of project/program completion, including:
• Confirmation of project/program completion
• Description of outcomes and goals achieved
• Photographs
If a report is not received within 6 months, a Rotary Club of Sarnia member will follow up to request
additional details. Please note that not reporting will lower chances of future funding from the
Rotary Club of Sarnia.
