Sarnia Rotarian Honored to Serve as District Governor Sarnia, ON/July 15, 2009 - Tanya Wolff of the Rotary Club of Sarnia has begun her duties as the 2009-2010 district governor for Rotary International District 6330 and its 61 clubs in Southwestern Ontario and Eastern Michigan.
As district governor, Ms. Wolff will further Rotary’s interests in international, community and vocational service and goodwill, by providing leadership, motivation and guidance to the clubs across the district. District 6330 is one of the few districts within Rotary International’s North American organization that is truly international, covering a geographic area that includes Ontario communities between Lion’s Head, London and Sarnia-Lambton, and westward to Flint, Michigan.
Ms. Wolff has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Sarnia since 1992. She served as the club’s president in 2004-05 and also as president of the club’s charitable foundation. International service is Ms. Wolff’s passion. She has participated as a volunteer for Rotary’s polio eradication immunization campaigns in India and Egypt, as well as in Mali and Niger, Africa. She has also volunteered in Benin, Africa and investigated Rotary world community service projects in Haiti. Most recently, she participated in a Rotaplast medical mission in Venezuela. Ms. Wolff is currently employed part time as the fundraising and special events coordinator with Big Brothers of Sarnia-Lambton.
Ms. Wolff is extremely proud to have been selected for such a prestigious role and to have the opportunity to directly support the many community and global projects being planned for the upcoming Rotary year by the district’s clubs.
The Rotary Club of Sarnia is supported by the activities of close to 80 members, who are local business and organization leaders that represent a variety of vocations. Continuing to live its motto, "Service above Self," the club maintains an active program, which focuses on special needs children, youth leadership development, community betterment, vocational ethics and international peace and aid.
